The Women Safety Cell, also functioning as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), at Bansal Institute of Research, Technology and Science (BIRTS), Bhopal, is constituted as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. The cell is committed to ensuring a safe, secure, and respectful environment for all women students, faculty, and staff.

Vision

To create a gender-sensitive, safe, and inclusive campus that upholds dignity and equality for women.

Mission

  • To prevent and prohibit any form of sexual harassment or discrimination.
  • To provide a confidential and supportive grievance redressal mechanism.
  • To promote awareness of women’s rights and gender sensitization.


Objectives

  • Ensure safety, security, and well-being of women on campus.
  • Address complaints related to harassment in a fair and time-bound manner.
  • Conduct awareness programs on gender equality and workplace ethics.


Functions

  • Receive and investigate complaints of sexual harassment.
  • Maintain confidentiality during inquiry proceedings.
  • Recommend appropriate action to the competent authority.
  • Organize workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns.


Complaint Procedure

  1. Complaint may be submitted in writing or through the official email/portal.
  2. Acknowledgement is provided within a stipulated time.
  3. Inquiry is conducted by the committee as per statutory guidelines.
  4. Recommendations and resolution are communicated promptly.


Composition (As per Act Guidelines)

  • Presiding Officer – Senior Woman Faculty Member
  • Faculty Representatives (at least 50% women members)
  • External Member (NGO/Legal Expert)
  • Student Representative (where applicable)
