Zero Tolerance Policy Towards Ragging

Bansal Institute of Research, Technology & Science (BIRTS) strictly prohibits ragging in any form within the campus premises. The institute follows the guidelines issued by UGC, AICTE, and the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India and maintains a Zero Tolerance Policy toward ragging.

The Anti-Ragging Cell ensures a safe, respectful, and friendly academic environment for all students, especially freshers, promoting a culture of mutual trust and dignity.

Objectives of the Anti-Ragging Cell

  • To prevent ragging in any form within the campus
  • To create awareness among students regarding anti-ragging regulations
  • To ensure a safe and supportive environment for newcomers
  • To take prompt disciplinary action against offenders as per statutory norms


Institutional Measures

  • Constitution of Anti-Ragging Committee and Squad
  • Display of Anti-Ragging Policy and helpline numbers at prominent locations
  • Submission of Anti-Ragging Affidavit by students and parents at the time of admission
  • Regular monitoring of campus premises including hostels and common areas
  • Orientation programs to sensitize students about consequences of ragging


Complaint and Redressal Mechanism

Any student facing ragging or related harassment may immediately report to:

  • Anti-Ragging Committee Members
  • Head of Department / Principal
  • Institute Anti-Ragging Nodal Officer

Complaints are handled confidentially, and strict action is taken as per UGC regulations and institutional policy.

Legal Framework

Ragging is a punishable offense under:

  • UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions
  • Relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)

Punishments may include suspension, expulsion, rustication, and legal action depending on the severity of the offense.
